Craft Warehouse: My Sister

There is still a chance to win a seat in Lain's LOAD Challenge in two posts below.

Here is my last layout for the month using My Mind's Eye Life Stories Line. I love this photo of Becca that we took during December. This captures her smile and love of photograhy. It's her... it's beautiful. I had to use it. I have to admit that I am ready for spring. I couldn't help but break out in pink. I did a lot of new techniques on this page...

Supplies - Patterned Paper, Diecuts, & Journaling Tag: My Mind's Eye; Cardstock: Bazzill; Rhinestones: Prima Marketing, Alphas and brad: American Crafts; Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger Inc.; Other: thread, sanding block, acrylic paint, circle punches, white gel pen, and ribbon

I love making my own embellishments. Just because I don't have something in my stash doesn't mean that I stray from my original sketch. I drew and cut out a heart carefully from cardstock. After sketching a butterfly and cutting several out at the same time I laid it right side down on the heart cardstock. I placed both on a light box and used my dry embossing stylist and created hearts in a random pattern on the butterfly. I love my dry embossing stylist! I use it for all my rubons - it's just easier and doesn't sound like running your finger nails down a chalkboard like a craft stick does. ;) I then sanded and inked it lightly.

I used paint on this plaid paper to draw more attention to the photograph.

I used a sanding block around all my circles. I forgot how much I loved doing this!

"Am a twin."

I love this tag! I used my journaling strip right over the words that didn't work with my layout.

The journaling on the layout reads: "You have always been my best friend, Rebecca. You were always right by my side. How did we survive 10 years apart?" I also wanted to add this journaling card (perfect for twins!) so I made a pocket in the back so it can be slipped in and out. After writing on the card with the gel pen I inked it which made the white pen stand out even more!

Create Well: Don't let not having an embellishment stand in the way of your design! Use what you have and create it yourself!
