Star Wars DIY Marquee

I just made an eight year old pretty happy. When I told E that I was going to be making his very own Star Wars Marquee he was beyond excited. With these lit up in his room and his new glow-in-the-dark Star Wars Pillows, he felt like he was pretty much in heaven. These were so easy to make that it is almost ridiculous - you have to try it!

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Create Often with Jennifer Evans. I am an employee and do receive financial compensation and material product from American Crafts to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

I purchased the 6" Heidi Swapp DIY Target Marquee letters at my local Target store. They come white so you can decorate them how-ever you want! I chose to spray paint them all silver. I love that the font of the letters work perfectly for a Star Wars theme!

Laying them outside on a large piece of cardboard, I gave them a good 2 coats of paint. Check your paint can to see if you need to prime them first.

After they dried, I followed the instructions in the box to string the lights. They really are simple. The bulbs screw into the light strand and the battery pack fits hidden in the back.

This stands about 12" tall and looks stunning lit up! The letters are wide enough to stack on top of each other but if I wanted I could hang them on the wall as they also come with a hanging hook on the back.

My son felt so special the first night he had his own marquee lights in his room! My husband thinks they are pretty cool too!

Create Often: Do or do not, there is no try.

  1. Our home office needs this next to all of our Pop figures. Never even thought of spraying them with metallic paint!
